Each set has 10 posters and each set has a different background. All have been posted on TpT and Teacher's Notebook. I've also added two of them to one of the newest sites out there. Teacher's Marketplace is based in Australia. You can click here to get to my product.
So back to the posters...
This is one of my favorite products. I love to travel and always have my camera along. Writing is very big at my school so I decided to use some of my travel photos for writing prompts. We use WVWrites in Terra Alta East Preston School so I modeled my prompts after the format used in WVWrites. Along with the picture, I wrote a few paragraphs setting the stage and then added a prompt as directions for the writing. You can check out my prompts on Teachers Notebook. Just click on the title.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-962886949315847556.post-34524449196092831742013-05-15T05:13:00.002-04:002013-05-15T05:13:53.201-04:00GeoGuesser
This is great fun! The site gives you a picture and you guess where it is. Of course you get to move about looking for some clues. I tried to read signs, look at license plates and ponder the plant life and sometimes I got close...well, within 1,000 miles close! Each time you guess, you are awarded points. I think students in my 6th grade classroom would enjoy this and they would get to see the world a little at a time! One of those is a center activity that may be used in small or large groups. The activity targets synonyms and antonyms and has a prom theme. Students look at the word on the flower trellis and then match a synonym and antonym Prom King and Prom Queen to the trellis card. The cards are large enough to use as a whole group activity. Just print them out in color, laminate and cut. Since I have a magnetic board, I put magnet tape on the back and students just sort the words right on the board. Recently I joined Teacher's Notebook and used this site as my website. I changed the name to reflect my store in Teacher's Notebook and played around with new backgrounds. I love change so expect me to play a bit before I settle in with my design!

If you are a 6th grade teacher, you might appreciate our classroom site. We have all subjects organized on pages and we have lots of resources to teach our curriculum. In fact, my partner teacher and I say this site is our one stop shop for all things 6th grade. We use it for all our links and our students simply so to the site to have anything they need. It is very convenient for the students, parents and teachers. Check it out by clicking here.

Now...Teacher's Notebook is a site for teachers to market their original products. I just joined so I have only one resource listed but I will be adding additional resources over the next few weeks as I get my store up and running. If you are interested in checking out my store, just click here. I love to travel and I love to use my photography as part of my lessons. You'll see some of my travels as you look at my lessons. My next resource I am working on will be expository writing using photography from my recent trip to Washington, D.C. Here's one photo I may be using. My favorite memorial in D.C. is the Korean War Memorial. The first time I say this memorial it was early in the morning and there was a mist of fog. It gave me chills!

Stop back often as I reinvent this site to focus on 6th grade common core curriculum. Keep in mind I will always be heavy on technology.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-962886949315847556.post-25762798313992289402012-01-07T06:34:00.000-05:002012-01-07T06:34:26.788-05:00Scoop.itScoop.it is a great site to publish a magazine of links on various topics. It's free for the first 5 scoops and there is a 15 day trial if you want more scoops. I signed up for the teacher subscription and have been able to add 20 scoops. I used the students' Social Studies fair topics and now 20 students have a selection of sites to use for their research. Check that out by clicking on the TAEP Social Studies Fair site. My 6th graders seemed to love the format and I heard sounds of approval throughout the room when they accessed their Scoop.it yesterday! Students love playing the game and enjoy the competition. They don't even realize they are learning and reviewing! The problem is that it takes me forever to build a powerpoint for each story. I recently started using a web-based program called Jeopardy Labs. The template is easy to use and I can build my Jeopardy game quickly, save it to my account and I am ready to go! You can build your own game and save it to the public file or pay for an account so you have your own files. A Story Before Bed allows you to record reading a story. You need a microphone and a webcam to complete the recording. They have some free books however most have a fee. This site was shared by someone...wish I remembered who! In my excitement about this site, I didn't even mark it as a favorite. I just started sharing it with fellow teachers. So thank you, whoever you are!

Back to the site. The first thing I checked out was a 6th grade lesson on prime and composite numbers. I clicked on the video and was disappointed that it was on YouTube until I realized this was a video to help teachers use a particular strategy to teach the concept. Then I noticed an associated powerpoint to show to students. In addition, there is a pdf with the graph paper needed for students to complete the exercise. Unfortunately I was unable to open another file however, give it a try. You may be able to open it. WIth the resources I could access, I would be set with this lesson!

I skimmed over the $1,000,000 Problems and I think I need to give that a bit more attention. In fact, there are other pages that need a bit more of my attention.
